Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2018 – We sincerely hope that this year brings with it joy, luck and musical fulfilment.

For those of you who don’t get the Teachers Handbook or the Syllabus this is the section where you can find the news and highlights that will affect you for the year.

Without further ado:

Piano and Piano for Leisure Syllabus:

  1. The AMEB NSW Handbook will be going digital next year allowing you to download for free all requirements.
  2. The latest Piano for Leisure coursebooks are officially out.  Titled Piano for Leisure Series 4, it covers Preliminary to grade 8 and has a complement of recording and handbooks.  Please note the recordings are not available as a CD, rather you can download tracks online using a code found within the books.
  3. In late 2018, AMEB plans to release a new piano syllabus for January 2019 supported by:
    – grade books (Preliminary to grade 8)
    – recordings and handbooks
    – new technical workbook
    – new sightreading book

Theory of Music

  1. Online written examination enrolments must now be submitted through AMEB Connect NSW (if you’re living in NSW)
  2. Grade 3
    Under “Creative Work”, candidates are now required to complete BOTH a rhythmic pattern AND write a melody of 4 bars
  3. Grade 4, 5 and 6
    Under “Creative Work”,  candidates are no longer able to complete a melody – candidates are ALL now required to write a melody to a passage of text.
